New small paintings

Had a great day with model Tanje Baker yesterday exploring some new painting styles in a smaller format (15"x11"). Did about a dozen paintings but kept these three…all of which sold today to one of my collectors who now has 5 of my works. A good day indeed!

5-day intensive workshop at OCAD University

Just finished a great 5-day Figurative Abstraction workshop sponsored by Haliburton School of the Arts and held on the campus of my old alma mater (now called OCAD University) here in Toronto. Most of the students were repeaters (I always love having students come back again and again and see their progress). So here are some pics from the week - including a couple posted by one of the students (Lottie Anderson) on her blog (ilovethesmellofwetpaint.blogspot.com). Thanks Lottie and thanks to all of you who worked so hard this week. Great week! Great work! Great fun!

A few of the more unusual tools used by one of today's students

Today was the second last Wednesday class in the Visual Arts Mississauga Figurative Abstraction workshop. Today's project was to create an active ground and then work over top to "find" the model allowing the ground to be an integral part of the painting. So here are a couple of pics from the class. It's all play time!

Great day at HSTA

I was thrilled to have been invited to deliver the keynote speech for the Haliburton School of the Arts Convocation today in Haliburton. It was especially fun since one of the grads was my friend John Leonard who I have known since we graduated from Ontario College of Art in 1969.
